anthracite or black..

i'm constantly changing my mind when it comes to what colour my car is gonna be.. black or anthracite.

i know i shouldend be asking anyone els but it really is 50/50

I've noticed how anthracite's popularity is rising. When I bought mine, most people referred to it as monkey sh*t brown.

Anthracite is not brown! MSB is very brown, that's dark grey.

That anthracite DOES look classy, but black will never go out of fashion, whereas that might... Tough one. I think you really can't go wrong with a black Supra with black rims though, so black gets it's first vote from me!

(I think). Best standard colour IMO.

Metallic bronze I can definitely go with, but MSB is much browner isn't it? Maybe it's just a trick of the light.

Trev, the colour of that car looks very much like my car (which has paint code 1A1): I've always thought mine was Moonstone Brown (MSB). I'd be interested to know what paint code Anthracite is (mainly to know if it's the same colour, or a different one).

Several of the posters in that thread seem sure that anthracite and MSB are one and the same thing.

Did Toyota themselves ever actually call a colour on the Supra 'Anthracite'?

It stikes me as odd because anthracite is actually a type of coal which is almost jet black. It's what they sell as 'smokeless coal' as it has the highest carbon content of any coal (it's almost pure carbon at over 90% carbon content and so doesn't produce much at all in the way of carbon dioxide.)

Can't figure out why they'd use the name of something that's very, very black for a colour that's grey.

If yours is the one I've seen around Eastbourne, then I'd say yours was MSB, and it's lovely, but I would really love a darker gun metal grey (anthracite)?

IIRC Mr T did a couple of greys: gunmetal and quicksilver. Not sure what the paint codes are, and not even sure if they are indeed 2 different colours or 2 names for the same colour.

Isn't quicksilver a light silver, like mercury silver?

I'd like it gunmetal, but a couple of shades darker. Like very old guns (bronzey dark grey) metal. Nice.
