Okay since I now have Brian (Soop Dog)'s old door on my passenger side, my key obviously doesn't fit it.

What's the deal? New barrel or can I have the existing one "altered" to fit my key?

anyone have any idea of costs?

the old barrel was shattered :D

thanks!

Is it really worth going through the hassle to replace this?

What are the chances the prospective buyer will try the key in the passenger door anyway ? If you unluck the car using the remote alarm fob I would say 99% of buyers wont take the keys off you and try and open the passenger door manually

Hello im a locksmith, and you can just take a toyota key cylinder which your key goes in to a good locksmith and they can change the plates to your key, they might even have the odd cylinder kicking about if you need a new one, it aint difficult 2 do its a five minute job.

I'm not certain about Toyota, but most manufacturers will sell lock kits that come with all the sliders you need to make any lock suit any key. A Ford kit costs about £15-20.

So could I get a kit, and change Clairs locks so my key will open, her car, then we could have one key for both cars......?
