My leaking stem seals only cause smoke from stone cold and it's a very white smoke, they've needed doing since I got the car over a year ago. I get some dark or black smaoke after a run occaisionally but it's only done it since I decatted in Sept 03 and hasn't got any worse in that time, I don't worry about it anymore.

Might yours be similar is it worse than that?

I get white smoke in cold weather starts but that is just steam.

I didn't get any smoke today at startup but that may be because I ran the supe the night before.

I've recently changed from using the supe everyday for commuting to a weekend car so that probably isn't helping.

No doubt I'll find out soon enough if/when something lets go.

Cheers.
