how to wire up electric fans

ive used the search button over and over and theres loads about fitting but what i need is for somebody to tell me exactly what bits i need to get and how to wire it all in.Be one more job done on the charger build then.

Are you buying a trigger thermostat?

Normally very basic with a fused connection from the batt and a trigger from a basic thermostat.

ARe you on a budget mate? If so you can get spal replica fans from ebay and they seem to work great.

Or go with something like a kenlow as they are good units and can get them in kit form.

Is there no way you can keep the original fan setup?

ok and how do i do that.when it comes to electrics im as dumn as it gets,anything else i can do but even looking at a wirring diagram goes over my head.

Have a look on the fans for a little sticker maybe. Look for anything like 12 v @ 10 a

ir any number with infront of A or amps or take a pic.

is this all i need plus some wire.

just took the plate off and they are cheapy ydk fans pusher type so they are no bloody good anyway.just had flexalite plates on them.

i have a high powered spal one from the states but the monkeys wired it so its always on....say no more

but i rate the spal ones highly

Should of switched to a TT fan and coupling, its the same issue when you fit an ATI crank dampner to the GE. Switching to a TT fan sorts that problem

whats the actual difference in the tt set up then.getting a refund on the electric fans now so need something else.

my problem is that the fan blades will hit the larger pulley for the charger.

The fan blades, odly, on the TT are further forward for some odd reason. I suspect its to clear the top radiator pipe on the TT

that might work then rather stay with the standard viscus if i could.have to find out how much more they are forward before i buy.

Well it gave about half an inch extra clearance so it wouldnt catch on the torx bolts on the end of the dampner

my larger pulley is 20cm across and comes out another 3cm from the original pulley,so on that basis the tt fan will still hit the pulley.

Ah well that wont solve the problem then, sorry mate

would 2600cfm be an ample flow rate thinking of these from jegs

can somebody tell me the minimum flow rate i can get away with.there are a fiew twin kits for cosworths cheap on ebay at the moment.thinking if they flow enough they will be ok for a fiew months.

just found this twin set up on ebay comes with everything needed to fit plus they are for a v8 landrover so they should be ok.just waiting for a reply on the flow rate.

How did you get on with this?

Arrived back from dragonball yesterday and I have fried my flexalite fans.... I was also using the X Eng thermostat switch

Going to take it all apart this weekend, I'll check out the fans and see if they are cheap fans or flexalite originals

be carefull as i bought a set of flexalite fans and they were cheap crap with the flexalite covers on them.Ive just bought some off ebay ,but the car hasnt really been on the road yet.They work fine on the dyno and only one came on as set to.
