boost 1.6

i have a hks evc 6 boost controller can anyone help is this about right or is there a problem. 2nd gear looks to be around 1.1 bar 3rd 4th gear looks to be 1.2/1.3 bar and 5th 1.4 6th however the boost is hitting 1.5/1.6.the peak boost which it stores is reading 1.6.

I hope for your engines sake you are not stock twins!

Is the boost spiking or is it holding at 1.6 bar through the rev range?

Have you tried pulling back the 'set' value on the boost controller?

hi homer thanks for reply it only reaches 1.6 then starts to drop down its like a little rev counter its hard to see it and drive flat out but looks like it peaks at 160 then starts to drop down 150 1.5 only see it rise above 140 or 1.4 in 6th gear.its really flying now as i got cable ties on all the tiny hoses. some of them were coming of under high boost pulls

stop the high boost pulls then. or they (turbos) wont last much longer.

there safe up to 1.4 bar 1.5 bar i can live with but 1.6 is prob to high.

I would never push them to 1.4 bar with no fuel management or AFR gauge IMO

you think they are safe at 1.5 bar? i wouldnd put stock twins over 1.2 bar if i had any intentions of them staying on my car.

Is it mapped to 1.5+ bar though ??, something is wrong if it is climbing in boost through the gears

You are push your luck a bit thats all IMO

it only reaches 1.4 bar in 5th / 6th sees it rise to 1.5/1.6. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th it doesn reach over 1 bar boost. can it be mapped to reach 1.4 bar in all 6 gears or is there a limit in each gear any help be great thanks

The HKS EVC6 can do speed/rpm/throttle position related boost, so if you set it up you could reduce the duty at higher speeds.

can i also increase the boost say from 3rd/4th gear as well. is a whole remap needeed or can this be done from the unit its self.

What does it boost to with the unit switched off?

off is 0.7/0.9 huge and i mean huge difference tween boost controller off and high seetting 1.4 bar

You can increase/decrease to what ever you like if it is setup correctly.

Its not easy though

ah its over my head prob a job for ryan thanks for your help. started adding some toulene and xylene maybe that has something to do with the over boost not sure

Jeez, that's a lot. I.ve hit 1.7 bar on jspec turbo's but AFR's were in the 13's

What are your AFR's like at that level? I'd be terrified of something letting go!

its only spiking at that homer only reason i know its 1.72 is the hks unit holds stores peak boost. were do i get the afr reading from

If it's spiking just after the 2nd turbo comes online you really need to get this sorted, it'll be running horribly lean at that point.

You'll need an AFR gauge, it's an essential item when running over stock boost level.
