what were you doing???

if its over a tonne you could well get done for dangerous driving!!!

thats what they got me for, - even though i wasnt speeding, but thats another story,

if you get a ban, you can expect your insurance to go up by 50% on average, and theres alot of places that might not insure you!!!

but trust me mate, even if it does happen, (n it might not), its not the end of the world, ive been on foot for 3 months now, n its a pain at times but nothing major!!!

:(

ouch!!!

expect a call sometime in the next 6 months for an interview, or if they feel they have enough to prosecute they might just issue a summons streight off.

They needent neceserraly do you for DD or they might not take any action at all, they arent the most organised bunch.

But they have 6 months to do whatever they may do, thats the worst thing about it, you might have this hanging over you for a year before you know whats hapenning, thats what happened with me...

i'd speak to a solicitor ASAP if i were you, most do free consultations,

totally gutted for ya, if it happens ill be sure to pass on any info i find on 'naughty boy' friendly insurance companies...

Well if you want to keep driving get the best legal help you can. That way you might get just points and a HUGE fine but keep your license albeit with max points on it!

But yes insurance will soar, you'd been better off killing some old lady or glassing your mate on a saturday nite than speeding.

yeah points stay same if you get a ban,

plenty of people have been done for DD for excessive speed,

i can think of a good few on the BBS...

like i said it depends what the mood CPS is in!

and if my experience is anything to go by its usually bad with young drivers, worse with speeding, and terrible with sports cars,

im speaking from first hand experience here im afraid...

so if i only have 3 points, are u saying that i would still only have 3 points if i took the ban?

how long does a ban stay declared for insurance???

I was whooping an escort cossie at the time aswell, there really is no justice!!

hope the cozzy got done as well!!!

a ban on your liscence is way worse than any points im afraid, and it stays on for 3 years like any other points on your liscence, but insurance comps usually ask for any driving convictions in the last 5 or even 10 years!!!

If you get a bann it'll cost you quite a few quid!!! in insurance way more than in any fine you might get!!!

you might get a ban some points and a fine, its purely at the discretion of the judges on the day

if you got a ban, you'd retain your three points though, although you might be lucky and only get a ban. at the end of the ban (depending on how long they've been on there for) you'd still have 3 points

I got away with a ban and no points, I angled for a ban cos I didn't want the points on my licence

IMHO expect up to 12 months ban, a fine and no points

get a brief, they are worth their weight in gold, and mine was a fat b*stard ! :)

you need to tell them as soon as you are banned

if you are the only driver of the vehicle they will then make the decision whether to keep you on cover. if you are the only driver its unlikely they will want to insure the car if its not being driven

won't know until. a. it happens. b. you ask them

Mate chin up, firstly you have a summer of supra driving to look forward to (almost definitely) as its very unlikely that you'll be in court before october.......

second i got £200 fine and 6pts for 102mph and your not really much worse than this. My only defence / plea (no legal help just me on my own) was distance to work, its remoteness from public transport and that i'd only just started working there.

6pts doesn't hurt me too much insurance wise (about £150)

good luck with it..............

Hi Matt

Bad luck mate.

I've been banned for 12 months and it's no fun but, as Al said, you get used to it. I should think that you've got a resonable to good chance of keeping your licence, especially if you spend a few quid on a decent brief. It was only 112mph, so we're not into Bobbeh territory.

If you do get point and/or a ban it'll stay on your license for 4 years from the date of conviction. All the Insurance Companies I've spoken to since getting my license back want to know about all convictions (whether a ban or points) for the last 5 years only.

If you get a court date that is too early for your liking and you want to keep driving for a while longer you can put in a Not Guilty plea and the case will be adjorned several more weeks. I got my case delayed 3 times like this (plead NG, then delay for expert witness reports, then unavailable witness) and then eventually pleady Guilty and got no worse than I was going to get anyway.

Good luck.

a 28 day ban made didly squat difference to my insurance renewal

Got 28 day ban a year ago for doing 82 in a 40, £170 fine and no points on license, and insurance never went up a jot. They never even considered the ban until the policy was finished, they said they would keep it on computer but it might only affect my policy at renewal, but it never did.
