View Full Version : first tune
could i please have some ideas of what my first stages of tunning should be to my totaly standard uk tt 6
thanks rob
My suggestion FWIW, get rid of the cats.
Remove cats, and uprate exhaust, gives a good 40bhp, and the car feels much better, oh and a FCD as well.

Remove the Catalytic converters and replace with a straight through pipe. You can just remove one but better make it the downpipe section (CAT1, next to the exhaust manifold) first to get any benefit.
Then the boost may be raised high enough to cause fuel cut, for that you'll need a fuel cut controller
You have a choice of TRL VFCC, HKS FCD or Greddy BCC
Obviously I'm biased and will recommend my VFCC

Read the important information at the bottom of the page!
So many people just do NOT understand what it means to remove the fuel cut and think it's free power! You don't get something for nothing. There is always a sacrifice. Luckily the Supra is built well and can cope with up to 18psi of boost in stock form, provided you heed the warnings.
If you want to go to the nexty stage then you'll need to look into boost control. Either manual/mechanical (bleeder "T" mod) or automatic/electronic boost controllers. But that should be a subject of another email and AFTER you've researched the subject, there's a lot of info out there on places like www.mkiv.com (if it's come back yet), www.supras.co.uk and this site.
Good luck

Max Power sticker in the window. Good for at least 80 brake.

Go faster strips and fluffy dice give you an instant power increase too!! ;)
Cats, Catback 'zaust (HKS Hiper or Super Drager IMO), VFCC + a boost gauge!!
Stage 2, Intercooler/ERL Aquamist
Stage 3, Hybrid turbo's and a S-AFC to run a safe ish 1.5bar. Sweet :)
Waiting for the comments!!!
The above list should also include RaceLogic Traction Control to help you keep all that extra power on the road.

But he's got a manula with more control so your Racelogic shares won't be going up in value just yet!!!! :)

Hey what about the Blitz Nur-spec R ?
A lovely piece of engineering and good prices available.
Yes the Nur is probably great but I've not used or really seen one to comment I can only comment on what I've seen...
Have you seen how cheap the HKS Carbon canned Hiper is....
have to say that Martin is spot-on.
The NUR spec is a superb piece of engineering and is *almost* too nice to stick under your car.
Yeah, but the Hiper is LOUDER!!!!!!! The NUR spec does have a certain musical quality though - at this point someone should probably mention that there are MP3's of five different exhausts in the multimedia area of this site. Well worth a listen - better still get to a meet and have a listen.
Tell me more about this carbon-canned Hiper Alex - have you seen/heard one?

I thought the Nur-Spec was louder than the hiper ?????
I am a *BIG* HKS fan, but have to admit, the Blitz definitely
*IS* the best exhaust out there, actually, by quite a margin.
