Your looking at £2k+ for the conversion.

An LPG Supra is only worth it if:

1. You are not planning on selling your car in the next 4 years (depending on your annual mileage and savings).

2. You are buying an already converted LPG Supra.

That's what I was thinking too.

Assuming you save approximately 0.60p per litre you would have to buy around 3333 litres or 734 gallons just to break even.

Lets say you are going to average 20MPG then you would have to travel about 14,700 miles before you saw a return on your investment.

I should imagine a few on here will do that mileage in a couple of years with thier TTs. The main problem I can see with a Supra is space for the LPG tank. One would fit in the spare wheel bay, but by the time you have a false floor in it's bye bye boot.

Exactly, I've seen a picture of it done on these forums and it ain't pretty.

But that would mean that you would not even break even until a couple of years. You would then need to keep the car for another couple of years to make £2k.

It doesn't then sound like a great saving to me.

woodsport at durham are fitting them for £1200 the owner paul woods also runs all of his cars on lpg and has no problems.

i was thinking of getting this done soon as it is actually less than half price for lpg as it is for petrol here

My concern is the rising tax going on lpg, i used to use it a few years ago and was paying 25p per litre.

I've just done some research and found these figures.

in 2007 tax on lpg was 16.5p per kilo of lpg

in 2009 tax on lpg was 27.7p per kilo of lpg

theres 3.6 litres per kilo

my thoughts are get in now before the tax goes to a level where you'll need to do 30,000 miles before you get a return on your investment.

I looked at this a year and half ago or so and virtually all lpg specialists in london wouldnt touch a supra TT. Said it would be very difficult to set up correctly. Also would be much more expensive than a normal install due to need more and larger injectors, etc, etc. Think quote was like £3200 in the end.

Plus you have no boot at all then. There is a guy on here who has converted his own TT Aristo to run lpg successfully. Think he lives in scotland. Can dig out his username from my pm's if anyone wants it. :)

Doesn't it need to be done by an approved lpg place though with certification that it's been done to a certain stanadard, i was under the impression you need it certified to get insurance on your car.
