I am DESPERATE!!! I need my wheels re-furbishing and have tried all I have been recommended but no-one will touch my wheels!! Spit & polish said no, been told not to touch Pristine, Rimzrefurb aren't doing at the mo and Fatwheels told me he couldn't physically take my rims apart or get machinery into my wheel!!!! Running out of ideas and dont wanna get rid of them cos I love the look of them. Anyone with ideas or went through the same problem with theirs? I have 18" KYH Circlar GTA's, polished 2-piece split rims (245/40/18 front, 275/35/18 rear) here are some pics......

Thanks

Nearly all four are slightly curbed in places and I made the mistake of dropping one on it's face the other day when I was painting my calipers (DOH!!!) I wanted them refurbed before that anyway luckily. The finish on most wheels are a bit tired anyway. I agree about them being simple in design so should be easy but Eddie at Fatwheels explained that mine are polished first, then welded together making it impossivle to split them or fit a machine in to polish them whilst still together!!

I thought the whole point of having split rims was to make them easier to 'get at' when maintaining them etc.

Not sure why refurb companies are unwilling to service them.

I have 3 piece rims and they will need referubed sometime next year, hopefully I can find a place thet will do them.

(my 1000th post by the way !!! )

Thanks for all of your feedback. I am gonna try some other companies that specialise in metal polishing/fine sand blasting etc and not just wheel rufurbishers. Really fed up and frustrated at the mo but wont let it beat me!! Will post a thread as soon as I solve this one so that others in the same boat will know where to go.......Watch this space!.....

I looked into this about 2 weeks ago. I found a company that do all of Aston MArtin, Porsche and Jags refurbs and apparently all the other companies such as Spit n Polish etc pass split rims on to these guys.

I'll type another reply later as very busy now. Wheels go to Germany to be done (clear powder coat over polished rim section) as part of the process for split rim refurb can't be done here.

Bad news was the price...

£1250 + vat, or £1300 + vat if centre was coloured and not silver.

Will post back again soon but apparently the finish would put most car bodywork to shame...
