Electric Aerial

Anyone know anything about the electric aerial.

I need to get a replacement for my 1997 J Spec TT.

Surely it will be the same as the one on the UK car.

Prefer to get an original Toyota part as it will be easier to fit with the same connections etc.

Are the Toyota Parts Depts any good?

Is there anywhere else I can get an original aerial?

Thanks

If you have just snapped it you can buy a replacement for about £20 from Toyota and it's really easy to fit, just unscrew the top, turn on the power and it will pop out then put the new one in and turn of the power (your meant to have the teeth facing the rear of the car but you might need to turn the teeth around in the hole to catch it)

Part Number T86337-14411

If it's the motor your looking at a lot more money and you can get to it through the panels in the boot and under the wheel arch

Cheers Castle

The aerial won't go down the last 6" or so.

There is no apparent damage to the mast, after taking it to bits and looking at the mechanism their wasn't anything obvious.

I then looked at the bottom section of the mast- it is buckled, someone must have tried to force it down.

It needs a new mast, I am reluctant to just replace it because I don't know why it wouldn't go down in the first place.

I think it would be better to replace the whole unit.

Got a shock when I rang two Toyota Dealers.

£30 for the mast.

£178 for the whole aerial unit

What a rip off!
