aircon still doesn't work

obviously I don't have the car back yet, but intense boredom is turning into an obsession not dissimilar to that just before I first got the car.

so.. my aircon doesn't work. The "thing" doesn't kick in - the pump? I beleive it's an electronically engaged clutch. Well that clutch stays disabled and I can see the outside spinning but not the inside of the 'pump'.

lights light up etc. and I have a receipt to show it was regassed for £75 in September 2003.

so.. I'm searching supraforums now but am wondering if anyone else has any ideas?

I have the diagnostics info (thanks to someone on here - sorry I forgot who) but ISTR not really having a clue what I was doing, plus it wasn't exactly a definitive diagnostics procedure.

can u see the clutch trying to engage? or does it not move at all?

if it doesn't move at all then there's a good indication that the pressure in the aircon system has dropped.

There's a pressure valve or switch (I cant remember the technical name for this device) on the aircon system which when activated tells the compressor to engage.. you can actually disconnect the cable going to the pressure switch to bypass it.

try disconnecting this and see if the aircon blows cold air.. if it does then the pressure switch probably needs replacing.. if not then you need regassing.

however if the clutch does try to move but fails (you may hear it whine or see it struggle) then chances are you've got a seized air con compressor.. i had the same problem last year
