hi guys having a problem with my heater matrix it still kicks out heat but when its on it smells nasty.

I have tried putting some coolant flush through the system and it hasnt got rid of the smell is it due a new matrix? or something simple that might fix this problem

il do what i do best with toyotas

give it a kick :)

What, the matrix? It's a couple of hours of spannerwork until you can even see the thing. :)

jon5698: if you change the coolant, try hose-flushing the matrix in both directions whilst you're at it. Let us know if a new stat/cap works.

give your local detailing/valeting place and ask for a interior odour bomb application (probably called different things) but most will know what you are asking for

They basically put a machine in your car and run it for 30 minutes with the blowers on full, its meant to clean all the crap out, kill bacteria whats making the smell!

You can buy an aerosol that does the same thing, Ibrar a trader on here had some a while back, turn the aircon on and set to recirc and close all the windows, set off the aerosol and leave inside the footwell.

Worked a treat in my car :)

Thanks for the advice stevie, is that just a case of putting a hose pipe onto the radiator top hose and running water through it, and then doing the same with the bottom hose?

You need to remove the in and out feeds that fit to the matrix which are between the the back of the engine and the bulkhead, then with a hose pipe put on one side then the other which might loosen up anything in there.

Ignore the green and red arrows :)
