Paul R
Hi, Is it a good idea to fit a bleed valve on a J-spec to raise boost to the required level? After a full de-cat, restrictor and FCD, my car is still only making 1 bar (just). Cheers, Paul.

Jake
I guess you've go to bed Paul. If it was me, I'd take the restrictor ring out and check that you're getting the normal boost for a decatted JDM Supra TT (ie > 1.2 bar) Assuming that it does boost OK you can then start increasing the size of the refitted Restrictor Ring aperture until the car reaches the boost level you want. Obviously if you can't get decent boost pressure without the restrictor ring then there is a problem somewhere else. (Leaking hose or IC joint etc)
dude
Have you tried another boost guage ????? Dude:flame Dev
Syed Shah
You can enlarge the restrictor ring or get a bleed valve. I would prefer a bleed valve, since it means you can still lower the boost if needed, rather than 1.2bar being the only level you can have. Cheers, Paul.
mr keef
Anyone got a pic of what pipe the bleed valve goes into?
Wez
If you are looking at the engine from the front of the car, under the turbo closest to you is an actuator, this is where you would plumb in a bleed valve or electronic boost controller. The stock pipe goes into the boost solenoid, the pipe if I rememer correctly comes off the bottom of the actuator. I am sure someone will post a piccy. scooby_doo_do
When i changed mine, i put the boost controller in line with the turbo and the actuator. You can see the hose coming from the turbo to the actuator if you look under the silver pipes going to the air filter. Did have some pics, but think they are at home..
