Hello guys I am getting my service done end of feb and I am supplying all the service parts myself.

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to where I can buy the parts from and what parts I will require as I dont want to end up buying incorrect parts lol oh and I obviously want to use the best parts and fluids for my car hence why Im asking you guys

The jobs I am having done will be:

Full engine oil and oil filter change

Fuel Filter

Air Filter

Brake fluid change

Coolant flush and change

Power Steering fluid change

Auto box fluid change

My car is a 1998 facelift jspec model

Thank you:)

My garage have just quoted me £500 to service my supra, and change the autobox/brake fluid. Seems expensive to me.

seems very expensive. Luckily for me i just need to get the parts ive got someone doing it for me for nothing as I want to watch and help him do it so I can keep on top of the basics myself. Although I will chuck a few quid his way

Auto boxes on supras arent the easiest of things to flush and change properly unless you know what your doing so i wouldnt realy say thats classed as basic.

Do it wrong and you pay the price so just be careful.

Yeah he said its a more complicated job than you think re the autobox, he has worked on supras before and pretty experienced believe me i wouldnt let him do it if I didnt trust him lol. I appreciate you know what by the way and im sure il be in contact with u with regards to other things

:) For the Oil Air Fuel Filters and the Coolent I would pop along to the local Toyota dealer, i get 10 -15% off when i say im in this club ( HW Moons Wigan ) as for the "fluids" the best you can afford or see Toyota again they have some offers on oil, Toyota Red coolent and brake fluids last time i was in there

Cheers

And the rest of the service items? If it's not had a FULL service in the last 3 years (and by the sounds of it, that's what you want), the list of items simply huge. It's at least a full days work from a team of mechanics and even most main dealers don't follow the service guide. If you need a copy of it post up. A full service guide is eye watering to read... It's no wonder the Toyota manual is rarely followed!

The last full service it had was in march last year, whether it was everything on the list i doubt it but on the receipt there was a fair few items done.

If you could post it up would be great as I will do my best to get as much of the work done as possible on it.

So given that the Toyota manual is rarely followed, what should a good service cover as a minimum? What can be dropped from the Toyota list without much worry?

If I was doing a full service I would include:

Timing Belt

Aux Belt

Wheel Studs

Coil Pack Clips

Oil

Oil Filter

Fuel Filter

Gearbox Oil

Diff Oil

Brake Fluid

Coolant

Power Steering fluid

Air Filter Element

Spark Plugs

Bit of lube on mechanical parts that require it, hinges etc.

Clean & Copper slip on the coilover adjustment

Change wipers

Wheel Balance & alignment

Check pads (replace as necessary)

Check discs (replace as necessary)

Check shoes (replace as necessary)

Check Lines (Replace as necessary)

Probably missed out some stuff but that is off the top of my head what I would do every 3-5 years depending on use. Obviously normal services are carried out every 6 months to a year.

I'd include taking the pads out and having a good look at the piston outer seals, infact get a spray can of brake cleaner clean them all and replace them unless theyve been changed ofcourse.

A good percentage of that is usualy covered in a service.

There's a good reason why 90% of the other stuff isn't done at any garage. Its down to being not cost effiecent both to the customer and the garage.

A proper go over like what's in the manuals takes the best part of the day, that's a lot of hours labour for 1 and a ramp tied up for a day which for a busy garage isn't a good thing but if they were to do everything by the book you would have 1 hell of a bill.

The only way to get that service is with an independent specialist end of.
