Side repeaters & MOT

My car has no side repeaters in the front wings, but has faclift front indicators - will it pass an MOT?

The facelift seems to be okay to pass MOT's with the same, but a few garages have said I need to add the wing side repeaters as well.

I want to avoid adding side repeaters if possible as they'd look a bit of a mess with the wing cutouts:

would it not be easier to get some facelift side markers for the front and wire them up?

they usualy fail it if there flashing to fast, like you have a bulb blown, i think you would get away with it aslong as it flashes at the normal rate.

nice looking motor by the way

Darryl, I *think* I have some of the facelift front bumper indicators if it helps, they are smoked but some white spirit should remove it back to orange

Thanks Jay

Do they actually work as indicators? I always thought they were just reflectors

Will be in touch depending on the conclusion of this thread :D

Yip, they're indicators :)

Will try & dig them out this weekend :)

Thanks Jay, but I think I won't go this route now after looking at the fitment, they don't look very nice and the stock one mean a huge hole needs to be cut in the bumper. I very much appreciate the offer though.

Its long winded but it gives all the information needed. You do have do have them by law, the reason for this is in case of failure of a rear or front indicator, as the side repeater can be seen from in front or from behind.

It's clear now after reading that, thanks Gareth

Can't you put repeaters in the vents on some coat hangar wire, then take them off again?

Getting an MOT isn't a problem, I just wanted to make the car as legit as possible.

However, this is more like what I was thinking, but in a permanent way. I'll have a check with Heckler to see if he can make some custom LED lamps to fit behind the vent.

Either that or the solution Raven used. The LED one might be tidier as at least they would be hidden.
