well I think thas that enough is enough,

i leaning toward braking my car and selling as some might know i developed a boost related missfire the other night and i belived it to be due to the cam cover gasket failing , so i striped it down put the new gaskets on put it all back together and now it barley runs, a really bad missfir on idle , its pops bangs and farts.

so i took all apart again baught new iridium plugs leads and a dizzy cap . put it all back together and nuthing still awfull. Im thinking how can this be it was running ok untill boost in 4th and now its like this. just how from changing the cam cover gaskets could it end up this bad?

so i have taken it apart again checking each plug indivudally out of the cylinder and they all spark?

could the oil that was in the plug well have fallen ito the cylinder whaen i took the plugs out and caused more damage?

I just dont know what to do im all of ideas and i cant throw any more money at the car so in my dispair im considering stripping it.

Im verry upset with it all.

and you are SURE that the leads went back on correctly.. Ie in the correct order onto both the plugs and the dissy cap?

9/10 times if youve done something simple and its got worse then its something you have done.. best to check all the connections to any/all sensors etc that you may have removed..

If you have removed any Vac pipes to do the job are you sure that its all back correctly.. I had a boost problem with my rebuilt VVTI. It turned out that i incorrectly soldered two wires back to front making the VSVs work backwards.. Very annoying and it took me about 2months to finally realise my mistake.. You could very well have done something, dont count it out, i did and i lost 2 months saying i dont understand i did everything correct..

unless your blind or using different plugs leads its impossible to get it wrong as there number on both the leads and cap

yea its all gone back on in the righ places iv been on it constant for 2 days , tryed all roads i can think of . id love to get it to a specialist but it has absorbed all my money and that coupled with my failing busness has really left me optionless. all i have removed is the throttle, plugs, leads and rotor . iv had it all off millions of times and never had an issue.

now im thinking the oil that fell into the cylinders had hydralicd it and bent a rod or somthing along tose lines , my mind is goin crazy.

it could be the dizzy wheel, not making full contact with the distributor cap ?.

i cant see it being that unless the dizzy has been fully dismantled before and not been put back together proper.. question does come to mind though is what state is your coil wire in? ive come across loads of NA's with a corroded coil wire which is seized inside the centre diode on the cap

do you know someone who has a snake camera, there very useful for engine inspection without taking it to bits

have a look at the timing belt and see if the cam pulleys are aligned with the crank pulley!

this happened to mine once, one teeth out of place and the car couldn’t past 3500rpm (sounding like a big misfire), but under 3500rpm it was running completely fine.

i did think of that but it was fine 10deg btc with the light. i have calemd down a bit now and picked my teddy up so ill look at it with a clear head and it will probably be something really easy and simple that i have just missed 12 times lol.

allthogh i checked this before i took the cam covers off and somehow made it worse so maybe , ill try and check the timeing again but i cant see how i could have adjusted the timeing but ill try anything at the moment

thanks .

I wouldnt of thought it would of been a hyrdolock, else the engine wouldnt turn over at all... you need to have the engine running at quite high revs, then it stop suddenly to bend those bad boys.... trust me, I've done it :(

Good luck mate, hopefully it's something unbelievably minor which you'll pick up with a fresh set of legs and clear mind this morning.

Agree with htse, hope things look better today

I had this type of thing before with an old customers car.. turned out that the heater matrix was leaking onto the emanage ultimate shorting everything and creating the misfire..

Prob not what is wrong with yours but its an idea..

I had exactly the same. only did it ever now and then then all of a sudden ran like cr4p. Turned out my Fcon Pro was soaked and shorted out. New Fcon later and copy of the map and all good again.

:donkey: :donkey: well first of id like to say thanks to all of you for your kind words and ecouragement i do really apriciate it. and secondly VICTORRRRRRRYYYY

i do feel kinda silly thogh, as many said it was somthing simple , infact painfully stupidly simple . i belive it to be a combination if two things . firstly onre of the wires to injector three had a nick in it so i insulated that. tried the car and it ran better but still verry week and lumpy then by chance i thaught id leave it running as i started to take the inlet to the turbo off and as soon i a moved the stainlees pipe next to the distributor she bucked up and stated purring . all this time it was the wire from the ignotor earthing through the wire to my turbo inlet pipe :donkey: .

so now shes ticking away at the back of the workshop fine , i dont know if this has anything to do with my initial boost missfire but as soon as i get my supension back on it ill find out , hope its all sorted now ( fingers crossed ) but thanks again everyone and im goin to fell silly in a corner somwere.
