single turbo set up

Hey ! Ive just purchased a supra with a single turbo conversion and its blown the crankshaft seal when the turbo was running on high boost the turbo's a t4 t45 from x s power and its got an upgraded intercooler can anyone set me off in the right direction to setting the car up properly and also does anyone know of any places in lancashire that remap the ecu's for the supra?

Do you have the full spec of the car, maybe some details of where you purchased it as someone on here may know or thing or too about it.

Sounds like you have some big problems.

Its going to be an oil pump change at a minimum id say, when people just try and replace the seal it blows very quickly again, sometimes it seems to be a sign of a very worn engine.

What ecu do you have?

Good luck with anything xs power, i feel you are going to need it.

My advice would be take it to a recommended supra specialist for a once over.

Ouch sounds expensive already! Oil pumps arnt that much new just a TWAT to fit, with engine in.

I'd say get it checked over fully and makesure it is just that before you start throwing money at it

You are going to need to spend a fortune on that to get it running right and you will still be on a xspower kit, might be better to put it back to stock twins, or start over with the single conversion with a good quality kit, if i was you id never let that car come on boost till sorted.

Ouch. I don't think you are going to enjoy Supra ownership much mate.

When you say 'high boost' how high are we talking about? From what you've said above it sounds like your car still has the standard fuel injectors. Std injectors can barely enough for BPU let alone a single turbo at anythng even approaching high boost.

Was the car originally a TT or a NA?

You might well be better of junking most of the XS power stuff. Their turbos and manifolds are utter garbage. The intercoolers and exhausts are the only parts I would even consider using.

I would get a full check over, maybe Whiffbits can help you out. I have only been here a short while but I have seen a bunch of threads about XS stuff not being great quality, hope you can get it fixed up.

Take it from someone who ran there stuff for a while, all being i had no problems(which i was real lucky with) i decided i wanted to do a better install. When the old stuff was taking off Ian who did my single build was shocked to see the state of the parts.

Id be saving my pennies up and changing all XS Power stuff for newer well made parts, money talks when doing a single build. Im glad i did change mine, as im sure the car would of went tits up when running the Xs power gear.

All the above is good advice and ill 2nd it all.

Going cheap on single turbo kits usualy ends badly and you end up with a large bill at the end.

To be fair though some people have ran OK for a fair while on xs stuff with good results but eventualy the cheapness will bite you in the arse

Take it to Chris Wilson in Shropshire.

He'll tell you the car is junk, but he's also the best at fixing it too

Ok well for starters the car was originally a tt so once the cars fixed can anyone advice me on a good quality single turbo set up e.g make and also what other bits ill need to change really appreciate all the help guys

BoostLogic, PHR, Whifbitz, HKS etc all make good kit.

Thing to do, is set your goals and your budget. Then find the kit to suit them.

Good advice....take a look in the projects section, plenty of single project cars for you to get a good idea;)

Id vote for the Whifbitz one for two reasons, 1 Cost as its cheaper than some of the kits from the states and 2 the parts are better quality.

im running one on my single, and it does look the nuts. And works really well.

That's until you decide having 2 wastegates is better than 1

Ill vouch for the whifbitz kit also, I've seen it in person MANY times now and the quality is supurb on all the pipework plus the fact its made over this side of the pond so no high cost import charges and huge waiting times

High boost single on a stock ecu and injectors, blown crank seal, I just hope you dont need a new engine let alone a single kit

I feel for you as this car will end up costing £1000,s to put right and I have not even seen it

Might be worth considering cutting your losses and selling on and starting again
