I know this has been covered before and i have searched already.

I have a getrag 6 speed and was going to put the toyota stuff in. However looking on whifbitz its £48 a litre!!!

When you look at the other oils on the market this sounds a bit on the excessive side!!

What oil should i get and from who should i get it online?

Thanks :)

Getrag reccomend dextron 2 then everyone says oh no the toyota stuff has special additives etc, maybe we should ask Kranz if he can test some bog stock Dexron and some Toyota V160 oil.

BTW my gearbox has dexron in it with slick 50 additive.

This is the way I look at it.............

Engine and gearbox and worth roughly the same (possibly the gearbox is more costly)

I'm not sure of the exact intervals but over say 20K miles you'll probably spend (or should do!) and not think twice about it, far more on synthetic engine oil than the £100 (i think 20K miles is ok?) you need to spend on the gearbox oil............so I just bit the bullet and got Paul's original stuff.

people in drag racing and very high hp dyno cars (titan motorsports) use Redline Shockproof gear oil in their manual toyota boxes (W and R series).
