Best Place to Buy Requested Parts?

Hi guys,

I've only just recently bought my 1995 Supra TT (import) & have a list of things I want to buy for it and was wondering if you guys can point me in the right direction.

I've had a search already & have been researching into tuning the Supra & am amazed at how good a job a lot of oem parts do as opposed to splashing out on aftermarket parts.

Where is the best place to buy standard front UK spec brake discs from at a reasonable price?

I take it Chris Wilson pads are the ones to go for on these cars?

Will an Autobahn88 FMIC be ok necessary for 1.2bar BPU spec or should I stick with the WMIC?

Willl uprated ARB's improve the handling of the car much? If so where do you recommend I buy them from?

Will a Halfords panel air filter be ok to use and is it pretty much identical to the oem one?

Are BKR7EIX plugs ok to use on these?

Standard UK brake discs = Toyota, Whifbitz or Chris Wilson. Check prices and order accordingly.

Chris Wilson fast road pads are highly rated, though Endless and other options are out there. Have a very good read of the tech section and see what you prefer. Personally I'd go for Chris Wilson pads, they have served me well for many years and are not too expensive.

Autobhan88 are generic Chinese cores, poor quality and end tank design and can be a pain to fit as the kits don't include the adjusted PS coolant line, expansion bottle, etc. If the car is only ever going to be a TT bpu car then use a CW side mount or stock replacement. If you must have a front mount make sure it is a proper one using a decent core and is ducted.

Uprated ARB's are really only needed on track cars. Do the basics first - check the wheel size, offset, tyre choice, check your suspension choice (Height, spring rate, damper bound, unbound, etc...), get a proper geo (not the sort of thing you get in a tyre company), suspension check over to stock tolerances. Replace and fix as necessary. If (and it's unlikely) the handling is not suitable for your use then go to a specialist like Chris Wilson to get it checked out in detail.

Halford = No. Not ever. Use stock Toyota, they are cheap and very high quality.

BKR7EIX are a good choice for BPU at 1.2 bar, though I always used copper ones at a fraction of the price.

HTH.

Speak to your local Toyota dealer 1st and see what they will sell oe parts to you for, always ask for discount and you might be supprised how much you get.

Dont forget if you buy from your local Toyota dealer you wont have any delivery costs which might be costly on heavy items such as discs.

Stock discs and pads work very well and its what ive used in 13 yrs of owning these cars. Also use the oe panel filter as that does the job properly.

Your stock SMIC if original is probably in need of replacement now but i cant recomend your best replacement. The Toyota SMIC will easily cover a BPU'd tt but are rather costly to replace.

Trd anti roll bars work fine on my car and cut out loads of body roll but it really does depend where you want to end up with the handling of your car.

Thanks guys that's some very helpful info.

Will pop round to my local Toyota dealer then.

In regards to the handling, I currently run Bilstein shocks & springs & would like to keep the ride height as it is.

Glad to hear the car is making close to 1.2bar if at 400bhp. I might not bother with a FMIC at this rate as the boost won't ever be increased any more as the turbo blades are only ceramic.

Also will get stock discs & pads sorted out.

In regards to the handling, the first thing I'll do is get a full laser 4 whee alignment done along with decent tyres such as GSD3's then decide where to go from there.

Just make sure where ever you go knows what their doing as the mkiv is camber and toe adjustable on both front and rear, just tracking the car up isnt enough and you need the cambers right to make the car work.

When youve done that if you still want to tighten the car up then uprated antiroll bars definetly help and wont affect the ride height but will cut down how much the car rolls as it enters corners.

I think the best mod on my car was the TRD antiroll bars but then i new i'd lose a lot of the softness which lots of folks want.

I use ContiSport contact 3's and have found them to be very good in most conditions but you'll get a lot of varying opinions on tyres, the Goodyears are up there with best so you should be fine on them.
