they're just misunderstood and unappreciated by all but the most discerning ;)

Very true Chris Wilson. Both my 850R Estate and my Mums 240 Estate have done us well over the years (especially when shifting furniture :D) Once again nice find :).

Hoping to do this conversion on my Mums 1984 2.3 carb 240 GLE Estate when she gives up using it. (Chance would be a fine thing, hopefully in the next 5 years, lol)

Would make an exellent sleeper, and would like to lower it with a set of 850 R Volan 17" wheels or a set of old school BBS LM style wheels..

But its another idea in the pipeline of many, lol!. It'll be done some day just waiting to see when that day will be.:D

330 BHP out of the engine that's in it is quite easy to achieve. I have a head, cam, manifolding, induction, turbo, turbo manifold, disi, and external wastegate here in the loft from one of my Volvo builds, gave an easy 330 on pump fuel, about 370 on decent stuff. Ran with 2 twin side draught blow through carbs, and a now laughable, but still effective, boost related ignition retard device. Ran shot peened stock rods, stock crank and Omega pistons. Was a 100% reliable engine, and very simple. You'd get an easy 400 BHP with crank and rods and a decent management system.
