Rob_Mitchell
hi guys i have a n/a automatic, just been for a quick drive needed some fuel, i have not used the car since santapod which was 4th of october so i wanted to take it out for that reason too. the problem i got is when i want to put my foot down sometimes it responds really good and the kick down throws you back, but i noticed it is not like it all the time. is this normal or is there a fault there somewhere?? during the time not being used all i have fitted is some samco vaccum hoses but not sure if this would affect this. Axle
just wondered if someone else with a non turbo has suffered this or is it normal thats all Unfortunately there are many sufferers. Some have suffered for so long now they are in denial – Best to ignore them.

Branners
first thing to check is that the floormat has not rucked up under the accelerator pedal stopping it hitting the floor...no joke, check that first.

Terminator
Kick down is activated by an electronic switch that is triggered by the back of the throttle peddle when it hits the "floor". It is supposed to drop the box into lower gears. Check what John has selected first. The little carpet hook supplied with stock mats is essential to stop carpet creep especially in an auto. Chris Wilson
Despite it not having the same amount of urge each time, does it actually always kick down to a lower gear? If it is not changing to a lower gear it's probably not an engine problem, but a gearbox control issue. has it got a top speed de limiter or speedo convertor on it? Rob_Mitchell
thanks for the information guys, its not the carpet i double checked in the garage last night and all seems fine. chris it has a speedo convertor on it but reads inaccurate by about 7mph but was fitted when i got the car. top speed de-limiter?? I know what it means but not sure if its been taken off, how would i know? how would i get it taken off?
Dave
if the rev limiter kicks in at 112mph then its not been de-limited only way to tell im afraid. if your speedo is off like mine then it shows about 120 mph on the dial before it kicks in.
