Dash lights go dimmer when the lights are switched on - normal?

The lights for my fan, clock, etc, all go dimmer when I turn the lights on. Is this normal or would a new battery cure this?

yeah, think it's normal

Perfectly normal - you need bright lights during the day so that you can see them in the sublight but these would be too much at night so they dim when the lights go on.

Don't all cars do this?

its definitely normal, then you can adjust the brightness using the dimmer switch to the right of steering wheel

Agreed its meant to do that.

Normal. Wish you could bypass it though (or maybe just a bigger alternator is required), as it dims them when you put the sidelights on, making them harder to see in the day.

That can be arranged!! A nice little mod so it only does it on main lights. Ah mod, my fav word!

I thought the dash-brightness control (to the right of the steering wheel) only did anything when the main lights were on. So all you have to do is turn this up full and your problem is gone.
