Ive been snooping around on supraforums when i stumbled across this thread

quite an interesting concept.

Granted they would not be cheap and seem pretty pointless as our blocks are pretty dam strong but the weight saving would be fairly large.

Difficult comparison, these are almost certainly designed with drag racing in mind, and as such cooling issues are possibly not fully addressed. I'd want to see one do a few 20 lap circuit races. Also, straight six blocks are long and narrow, and suffer a potential lack or torsional rigidity. Make a block designed to be made in cast iron out of a billet of aluminium alloy and you are going to have to introduce a LOT of additional material to keep that original rigidity. It may have very little weight difference once the waterway issues and strength has been addressed. In the case of these I suspect both these issues are secondary to weight, but they are fairly BASIC issues :)
