jihwaan
Anyone used the new wolf ecu- the v500? These now have a plugin adapter for the sup' so you can buy them with plug 'n' play-. I know these aren't a motec or AEM but I have used the V4 on my nissan 3.0l turbo motor and loved it so I was just wondering if anyone has any feedback on these- good or bad? noticed the specifications have improved vastly since the V4.. The price is relatively good I think, anyone know what else is available plugin for this price range?
Chris Wilson
It looks very interesting, especially as you are in Oz. I'd wait and see how some other mug found one in real life usage first though. Other plug and play ecus are the AEM and the Power FC, both are really only viable on manuals though. Does the Wolf claim auto box compatibility? Motec UK will make a patch loom to make an M800 near as damn it plug and play, at a price. Chris Wilson
Are they sold in Oz? They are indeed an alternative unit, sorry

j_jza80
Maybe Ryan fancies a holiday? (No doubt he deserves one after all the work he's put into his track car ) Sometimes trying a new product is a good idea, but when it comes down to something as important as mapping, I'd choose a good mapper and let him decide what ECU your car needs. You hear this advice being banded around alot but it's good advice.
jihwaan
I have a 99 vvti manual- so Im alright on the manual side of things... Mappers are few and far between in my neck of the woods (actually about 2000 miles in between).. I only just realised the AEM is in the same ballpark price range as the wolf anyway- I only asked about the wolf as I have the previous version in my other car.. As Chris said "wait and see how some other mug found one in real life usage first though" - that is some very good advice methinks... I really do need some advice re. this venture.. Im chasing around 450-500bhp- At present I am on stock turbo's with a single decat- producing 285bhp at the wheels on a very conservative dyno.. meaning its probably producing a little more (maybe 5-10hp). Its boosting to 0.9bar. Here is where I need the advice though- my intercooler pipes are full of oil - so much I have had to disconnect the atmo BV.. as its leaking a fair amount of oil- isnt using oil much and not blowing smoke though -so I figure its time for new turbos (or a new turbo) which is where I need the advice- I dont want to break the bank but I want it done right -from what I know I am gonna need : New turbo/s uprated fuel pump injectors some sort of ecu/piggyback and some other bits n bobs... I guess my question is can I get 400-450 with hybrids or should I go for a mild single and a piggyback or should I get an AEM? Keep in mind finding a decent tuner is going to be hit and miss also.. and if I go full aftermarket ecu how much trouble is the vvti gonna be? I dont have DBW either.. sorry about the long rant but I am rtying to figure this out before my turbo's go bang so i know what I need to do..
