I have my car in for its MOT, and with a fully de-catted 4" exhaust system its failing emissions, do any of you guys know a way around this, if you've had a similar problem?

Short of borrowing a full exhaust from the manifold back off someone I don't really know what to do, the tester still hasn't ruled out it passing as is but if anyone has any ideas I'd be gratefull.

I'm assuming its an Import? if so, imports dont need cats unless there 1995 onwards. Therefore they should be put through on a "non-cat" test. Most MOT testers cant be bothered to look at the rules, as they only "see" a car as a 1993 plate, so as far as there concerned, it needs a Cat.

On a non-cat test, you allowed upto 3.5% Co2 emmisions - I have a 3.5" fully decatted single turbo car with 264 Cams, and thay passes the non-cat test... Just... ;)

This has be discussed many times...

Thanks Heckler,

The emissions at the test center are controlled by a computer, so this would need to updated or fudged? I don't know how easy this would be.

I've passed that info on to the mechanic so hopefully it can be resolved. I'll do a search too :)

yes, but it up to the MOT tester to tell the computer its a "non-cat" test
