View Full Version : Which Con Rods and Pistons Please?

Have a customer looking for both following his water injection going AWOL and pumping loads of pure water into his engine...result>...mmmm have a guess!!

Anyway he is preparing to go single in a year (probably just refurb twins for now) and wants to get set up with the necessary stuff now to save later

Money is of course a consideration - best for bucks time!

Some opinions please

Con Rods - Stock / Carillo's?

Pistons - Forged HKS / Jun

Anything else to consider wacking on now to save time later?

Carillo/J&E kit would be most cost effective ATM (I would assume) as the dollar is so weak.

depends on the power required:

CP/ Pauter are better VFM

CP are just another piston manufacture as Pauter are another rod manufacture. CP have been proven on a dyno to 1k+ Pauter 900+.

Carrillo rods are lovely, almost seems a shame to hide them. JE pistons are good, with Total seal rings. Tuners will give you different answers but some are more than a little bias;)

CP Pistons are only 313grams per piston. Very light, VERY STRONG, and super high quality.

That's what we use in all of our stage 3 built engines.

I would definately upgrade the rods. That's the first to go on the supra block. The stock pistons are actually very strong. They are just extremely heavy.

Depending on RWHP goals... Pauter for lower numbers and Carillo for power upwards of 1500hp!

Just got back from the machine shop the head and block with Carrillo rods and Wiseco pistons fitted...v.similar to the JE but with much shorter skirt!

I'll have the block here till Friday if you want to have a look Paul......
