Guest project2jz Posted November 11, 2009 Share Posted November 11, 2009 I removed my 6 speed box today to install my new trans tunnel from toyota only to find that there wasnt a pilot bearing in the end of the crank, would it have caused any damage to the gear box especially the output shaft? Chris Wilson Posted November 11, 2009 Share Posted November 11, 2009 It won't have done the first gear any good, depending on how long it's been like that. Nor the input shaft bearing. I sthe bore in the crank still OK, and the input shaft bearing ground surface still undamaged? Amateur auto to manual conversion at some time, methinks? Guest project2jz Posted November 12, 2009 Share Posted November 12, 2009 It has been like that for about 2 months but i had only done about 200 miles in it. The crank bore seems to be ok and i cant see any visual damage to the input shaft, however before my findings it usually make a heavy rattling noise when idling and a slight winding at low speed.
