JamieP
Depends how much you use the 600bhp, ive never tested my mpg but off boost mine dont seem much different than when it was TT.
jevansio
Oh yeah It was a serious answer too, big singles with aftermarket ECU can run economically if tuned correctly on cruise
Blackie
4 Is it really that bad, It cant be planted all the time?
Abz
When flooring it....5 MPG, I am guessing 15 MPG driving around town. I remember Adnan telling me his small single was getting more better mpg than his stock twin turbo's as the first turbo was not spool up when just poodling around town. Scooter
It's going to depend almost solely on how you drive it...... I'm pretty sure on a long steady off boost (boring) motorway cruise it can reportedly be better than a stock TT. However if you hammer it with injectors often twice the size of stock to keep enough fuel in it to stop it from blowing up then you must be looking at single figure MPG? rob wild
Obviously mines not a 'big' single but on boost can be very low! However off boost cruising at 70ish I can easily hit 30mpg

Homer
On a 550bhp T67dbb I used to get 25-30mpg on low speed (less than 100mph) motorway cruise. Far better than the TT even. On WOT, it drank like a Finnish alcoholic. 8-10mpg on the road , about 4-5 mpg on the track. The larger the turbo the bigger the difference will be between off boost cruise and WOT. Blackie
So, If there was a big single turbo, say 500bhp engine, and you put a supercharger on to combat the massive turbo lag would it turn said 500bhp engine in to 550-600bhp or would it just get to boost quicker? Kirk
in theory or you could just use nitrous to spin it up just as fast
jevansio
A 500bhp wouldn't be laggy to start with, twin charging would be an overly complex solution
Blackie
in theory or you could just use nitrous to spin it up just as fast in theory what bit? An extra 50-100bhp or just taking it to boost? Nitrous would cost too much over time and theres no one to refill down here
