Gates racing timing belt...

I use the std Gates belts on my single supra, really cant see the point in using a vastly uprated belt unless you have very lumpy cams and have changed your valve springs for uprated ones.

Don't forget the most stress on your cam belt is at idle;) if it doesn't break then, 8,000 RPM is unlikely to do it.

What have you done to the valvetrain that makes you suspect you need a stronger belt?

I havent done anything to the valvetrain, simply thought that if i am going to change my timing belt might as well use the best, not to say the OEM are of no use. I think i will just stick with the OEM belts then..

This thread seems stupid. All the guy is asking is it ok to use, and most are saying its pointless stay standard? He didnt ask which to go for just said is it ok to use. Go for the gates one mate. The guys that said they use them are the guys to listen to and personally i would speak to paul if you have any doubts and get one from him .
