Kit = HIDS4U HB4 6000k Projector, 2yr warranty, digital ballasts, E certification, genuine plug & play install etc, £97.?? + £5 delivery :)

Went to Garage786 (authorised Supra forum trader). Was great to meet AshBhp and visit a garage that actually does a good job, happily interacts with customers and allows you to watch the work being done (apologies for getting in the way).

PICTURES

Pulled up @ Garage786 :)

Up in Air having fluids drained, full front end cover (even dealers and specialists don't have covers this good)

BEFORE & AFTER VIDEOS FROM A DRIVERS VIEW POINT

RUN 1

BEFORE

Samsung Tocco Ultra Phone Video. Light rain, slippery surface, standard light bulbs. (yes the lights were on at all times and the camera was pointed correctly).

AFTER

with HIDS4U kit fitted.

I started the video earlier, but during the video where I actually stop and set off again, this is the point at which the 'before' video above starts and both end at pretty much the same point.

RUN 2

BEFORE

********************

********************

AFTER

This video starts and stops at the same point as the before video above thats in '*'

Can't upload the last one as I was being naughty

Hopefully this should give you a before and after view of this kit installed on my car from a real world drivers perspective.

Quick Opinions;

- HIDs spread the light broader and stronger across their range

- Pick up objects far in the distance with ease so you become aware of signs and 'things' well in advance.

- clarity of objects is sharper

Downside - initially when you come towards roundabouts and the light catches the boards, there's a slight purple > blue > blue/white effect which is distracting. The 996 does not do this, that just hits a strong white just off blue light at the signs and thats an original OEM kit fitted at manufacture.

Well worth the money?? - well you can see from the videos, yes!

A few chaps and other folks that came to Garage 786 did comment on the initial quality of the HIDS4U kit compared to kits they had bought via Ebay and from the look and plug & play installation I got very positive comments on the quality.

£105 well spent on the kit!

Big thanks to AshBhp and staff of Garage786 :thumbsup The gearbox is also now a peach, very responsive and precise.

time to change those yellow sidelights :)

I changed the Fog lights and Side lights to my favourite Philips Ultra Blue vision at the same time, side lights are just a touch brighter that the old ones, not as great as they work on the BMW but at least all the lights I used have new bulbs in. (Old ones were probably 15 years old).

holy crap is that 6000k? They are alot of blue!?!

Thats what i thought !!!

i thought 6k would be whiter then that..i have orderd a set of 8k

Looking much better though mate, although you cam does not seem to record well at night as your standerd lights dont look like there on, even with no street lamps around lol

Its important to note that the colour will vary between various kits. My kit is 6000K by HIDS4U.

I can confirm that the blue tinge is evident along with a genuine bright white light to illuminate the road. For some reason the blue seems exagerrated on the camera photos compared to the naked eye.

Before HID videos - all taken by my cam facility on the mobile.

After HID videos - as above.

I can confirm that the camera was on and pointed correctly during all runs (you will see the old lights picking up road signs in the distance), but the section of road is very bad.

Hope this helps to give others a real world view of before/after HIDs as I could never find this info before ordering.

Nice write up mate, this should hopefully help any members when converting to HID's, which I also recommend!

6k are slightly blue...8K is normally very blue followed by 10k which is like purple!

The 996 most likely has 4k temp which is the whitest white.

Our 996 has a hint of blue (even when its following me) but its an original factory fitted item at manufacture, but thought I'd throw it in for comparison.

I did the best I could but there are pictures of HIDs everywhere but what I could not find was anything 'real world' related from a drivers perspective so I did the best I could with the equipment I had. Hopefully others will be able to make use of this when considering whether a HID kit is right for them or not.
