mrgee2jz
Hi everybody. This may sound like a really silly question. I know that autos have a smaller transmission tunnel and to make it a 6 speed you should change the top section of the housing. And untill today I assumed the 5 speed was the same as an auto but a closer inspection leads me to believe that the 5 speed has the same tunnel as a 6 speed? Is this correct? Or maybe only on facelifts? Any input will be apprieciated. Thanks Gary
Homer
5spd and 6spd trans tunnel plates are the same regardless of year. It's only the auto's that have a different plate welded in. The trans tunnel itself is the same on all supra's.

I assumed it was only the 6 speed that had the higher plate welded in as it's a larger box. I didn't realise it would be the same on the 5 speeds also.
