AndyT
Welcome Kev. £3k isn't gonna get you a lot bud. The only clutch I've heard of that performs with the same feel as standard is a Centreforce unit. The auto is a great box and would suit your disability fine, but the unit above would be my choice as you can handle a triple. Up to you mate. Try the autos. See what you think. Be prepared to up the budget by 2k though.

edge
£3k will get you a decnt n/a circa 22bhp and nothing a standard clutch wont handle and will be easy on the leg to operate. You may find a rough TT auto for £3k if your lucky. Standard TT 330bhp and with bpu just under 400 bhp and much more fun. The auto TT box is a nice unit and quite smooth. AndyT
3k is fine then mate. Own bodyshop too. Nice. I was going on prices here tbh. There's a few kicking around that need your tlc bud. 3k will get cat right offs etc.

j_jza80
As has been said, you should get a solid NA, or a ropey TT for the money. The autobox is highly regarded, and rightly so. It will support over 400hp in a TT, and is very easy to use with very smooth changes.
CardiffSupra
I think you could get a pretty nice n/a Auto for 3k. The auto box is great. This looks nice http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=197569 Edited October 12, 2009 by CardiffSupra (see edit history)
