stinboy
I'm going to take my wheels off today and give them a proper clean - I'll just be doing it one at a time and leaving the car jacked up for the couple of hours or so it might take to do each one (they are badly pitted). Is this wise or should you not leave the car jacked up for more than the time it takes to change a wheel?
MRX
If you have axle stands probably be best to use them rather than leaving it on a jack.
stinboy
Yeah I thought so but don't have any sadly
Missile
Put a few bricks in front of the wheels that are still on the car and keep an eye on the jack, Don't see why it would be a problem as long as its a good jack and on a good flat surface. stinboy
It'll just be the stock jack but top tip on the bricks. Hope it doesn't get a bit breezy this afternoon!
Missile
EEK. Standard jack. In that case i would not fancy that. Again i don't see why it would be a problem on a good surface etc. For about £20 - £30 you can get a good trolly jack at halfrauds.
MRX
That was probably one of my better purchases from Halfords - a 2.5 tonne trolly jack. Its had plenty of use and makes it so easy getting the car up and down. Its a bit bloody heavy though...
MRX
Also brought some of their axle stands at the same time, definately worth using if the car is going to be up for hours at a time..
