jackso11
Anyone tried the fully synthetic halfords oil? wondered if it is any good as it is a good price at the moment.
DSK
Never tried it myself but several members from the Volvo forum's are very happy with it on a wide range of old and new T5 and R models and have been using for a considerable length of time now. Also rumours did state that its linked with/to the 'Comma' brand.

trinitom
any oil from this days should be better than oils produced back to 93+ when the mk4 was produced. i use my self Motul 300v.
Kranz
Is it the 5w/30 stuff??? If so then stay well clear. Its expensive rubbish, I've tested it and it is nothing as good as 'real' synthetic. Ask Oilman for a reccomendation

Its expensive rubbish, I've tested it and it is nothing as good as 'real' synthetic. Opens the bag... right i'm going to break the mould, shock horror Halfords synthetic 5w/40, tested for the last 8 years in my car 3 years @ 1.2 bar BPU, the last 2 years @1.4 bar single turbo, changed at around every 3-4k miles, i cant see the point in paying an inflated price from a small volume manufacturer with a fancy name From this thread. Is the Halfords stuff Ester based? The best, genuine synthetics are, as I understand it.

Tricky-Ricky
I have used a major brand semi synthetic in several of my cars, both over tuned and std, also had it tested, not had any problems whatsoever. A lot of lesser brand oils are manufactured by the main oil companies to a basic or specified standard, and the basic is far Superior to the oils that your engine was built to run on
