mathew Posted September 3, 2009 Author Share Posted September 3, 2009 thanks guys. that answered my next question aswell which was going to be does the abs sensor have to be disconnected. i only ask as this morning i took the supra to a local garage to have the rear bearing replaced, but instead of buying a replacment bearing i got the whole hub unit instead. when the mechanic saw this he started saying 'oh its a second hand part, we are gona have problems with that. for a start there isnt an abs sensor connected to the hub' so i asked him couldnt he just disconnect the one thats there and reconnect it to the replacement hub. he was saying he could but couldnt garauntee that he could disconnect the sensor in one piece. i thought fair anough as corrosion might play a part in this. but then he said i should have just bought a replacement bearing. now correct me if im wrong but wouldnt he still need to disconnect the abs sensor wether he's changing the bearing or the hub:blink: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BOB B Posted September 3, 2009 Share Posted September 3, 2009 Yes he would, I had one of mine done a short while back and they didn't manage to get the sensor off without busting it so I had them replace with OEM, wow that was pricey about £120 for the sensor. TTRickeh Posted September 3, 2009 Share Posted September 3, 2009 Follow the ABS sensor wire up into the car, through the grommets, and disconnect it from inside the car and pull it back through the grommets. Saves you having to worry about messing them up when taking them off at the hub side. If it's a second hand hub how do you know the wheel bearing in that isn't on its way out or already knackered? I think you should have just bought new replacement bearings (+ oil seals). Also remember they are not reusable so don't be tempted to take the ones from your replacement hubs and put them in your existing ones. hth Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
