taking my steering wheel off

You need to remove the horn cover, there are 2 bolts, 1 each side of the steering wheel. There are 2 covers you need to pop off to access them, they are around the indicator stalks (and opposite side).

Once the horn cover is off it should be pretty simple, disconnect the airbag connections, undo the big bolt, then put it back on a couple of turns, this means you can try to pull the wheel off without it wacking you in the face.

To release the steering wheel I found rocking it gently side to side while pulling worked best.

This is all off the top of my head, be gentle with the airbag as although it shouldn't go off once the battery is disconnected I recall it's not guaranteed.

These bolts, which I need to remove the side to access, are they the bolts with the star shaped centre? If so what tool do I need to get them off?

when you take it off, just be sure to hold your face in front of it, that way if the worst happens, at least it will be quick..

Thank you for that, the helpfulness is appreciated

I think they are called Star Keys.

Where would I go about getting one of these, or is there anything else I can use to get it off, need it off by latest tomorrow morning

Yeah didn't want to do it with a screwdriver last night after looking at it.

Been down to Toyota today to try and get it off. They said that they can do it however since they were taking a steering wheel off with an airbag and putting one on without an airbag, they wouldn't do it.

Off to B&Q then
