Dan_Turism0
Hi guys, Please don't stone me for not having a supra but in a way this is what i'm trying to pick your brains about Basically as you will probably see in my sig I have a is200, some of you may or may not know of Mat Clawley who did the 2JZ-GTE conversion in his is200 and is running some impressive power as his car is built for competing in the drift series. Anyways I was wandering how logical (or not) it would be to go 2JZ-GE with uprated internals and a single turbo as a conversion as finding a 2JZ-GTE with a v161 is pretty hard unless i'm willing to strip a manual TT supra which I couldn't do . Whats your thoughts and what sort of power could be seen with a single turbo conversion on a n/a? I know in the USA there is a turbo conversion kit for the IS300 which uses the 2JZ-GE iirc. miko_supra
It's been discussed hundreds of times with regards to tuning the GE engine. Don't do it. If you want a turbo charged engine, buy one. Its already got everything there for you and its far far far cheaper to get larger power figures too.
miko_supra
Talk to jezz or keron on here who can supply both a TT lump and a v160/161 gearbox.
Dan_Turism0
nice thanks miko sorry if i've missed previous threads, my hp goal for the conversion is around 400-450 which is why i thought of the GE route.
JustGav
nice thanks miko sorry if i've missed previous threads, my hp goal for the conversion is around 400-450 which is why i thought of the GE route. Not from an NA, well, yes it may be possible, but for ease/cost a stock TT lump would be the better route.
Chris Wilson
Forged lower compression pistons and some decent rod bolts should see that figure, with bigger injectors and fuel pump, and a well matched turbo. Problems will be finding a decent N/A port pattern turbo manifold, and I would suggest you lose the distributor, fit cam and crank position sensors and coil on plug ignition. Depending on how much you can do yourself will decide on whether it's cost effective. You can even drill the N/A block to take the TT piston oil squirters. Dan_Turism0
Thanks Chris you've just clarified what I needed to know as I don't have the time, facilities or know-how to do some of the bits on my own pretty much determines the fact that i'm best off starting with a GTE
Guest russelllinn
I personally don't think turboing the GE is as bad as people make out, loads of people in US do do it check http://forum.clubna-t.com/
pistonbroke
IIRC, Dude at AFR has a few 6sp boxes at the moment, I'm sure they could get you one with a 2JZ-GTE lump attached
Homer
I personally don't think turboing the GE is as bad as people make out, loads of people in US do do it check http://forum.clubna-t.com/ ...and those people are ill advised, spend a fortune and still get lower power outputs than a stock turbo'd BPU can get. US BHP figures are utter garbage as anyone here in Europe knows only too well. It's be discussed time and time again and all but a couple of people have had any decent results with NA-T, those that have acheived reasonable power results are those that have had to spend a massive amount of cash. It is so much more cost effective to go TT then single if that isn't enough (although personally I'd just flog it and buy a TT6 in the first place). Thanks for dragging this up again though
