View Full Version : Odo jumped 100,000 miles!!

I was driving to work last week and noticed that my Odo clock was on 99999 so I kept watching it to watch it turn the big 100,000 miles and then 1 mile later it it decides to jump to 200,000 miles.

Is there anyway to find why this happend and to correct it?
I was planning on selling the old girl soon but this has just made it alot harder! I had an mot done 2 months ago with correct milage and I did take photos of it changing from 99999 to 200,000 so I have sort of got proof that the milage is lower that it reads.

It's an n/a if it helps.

Any help would be very appreciated
thanks
Andy

Possibly the car fighting back against the importer who clocked it in the first place?

;)

Unlucky. Mine got stuck on 99999, I had to take the odo out and give it a nudge over the 100k, too honest for my own good :innocent:

The facelift cars have a mechanical odo in the speedo, it's easier to 'clock' it back to the correct mileage than the electronic ones on the pre-facelift.

Oh yes, I forgot that the old ones had digital odo's. Sounds like it's defo facelift then.

your number "1" would have been removed in Japan so that the first time it' hits 100,000 it'll simply go back to 00000 then the second time it'll hit 200,000,

If thats true :sly:.........that'll make a few 90K+ odo owners a bit nervous :D

if it was a facelift you could just just paint the 2 black and carry on oblivious :innocent:
Or on a pre facelift take the odo unit apart and break the contacts for the display of the last number :p

broken record...................what is to say your uk spec hasn't hasn't has the odo disconnected for large periods of its life?

Yes some imports will have been clocked yes some uk cars are a lot more rusty underneath but to continually spout that 'all' imports are this, that and the other is just bollocks.

Homer

If the car came through an auction house the mileage can still be checked, for a tenner.

Mind you, I'd expect you'd know if it's done 200k rather than 100k! The signs will be there.

Never heard of one jumping like this before so something is very wrong there!

Maybe it's just late but I can't see how that would work on a digital speedo...

Hit a nerv? :rlol:

Just change the clock for one with similar miles or pop to Toyota or am auto electrician.... Job done.

maybe :D but honestly he bangs on and on about it almost to the exclusion of everything else. He's got a Uk car and loves it and thats fine why wouldn't he :)

I've had most types of supra and loved them all, 2 of the imports may have been clocked I can't be sure, but 2 others i'm certain (or as much as anyone can be) haven't.

I also know that loads of very genuine and exceptionally low mileage imports came in via places like JIC in the old days and so provided these have service historys from then on its all as checkable as a UK car.
