hey guys new to this forum was just wondering roughly what was the age you first got your supra. im 17 years old and i have been obsessed with this car since i was 12.... ive driven the car once and nearly bought a very nice looking one for £5000 which ive saved up since birth... i would have purchased it but when the insurance company said they wanted £8000!!!!! a year for it i could have cried!

so i was just wondering what age is sensible to own one of these beauties! 25?

thanks!

Well I was 26 when I got my MK3 turbo and 31 when I got my MKIV.

I think it's best not to p!ss away £1000s on insurance at a young age. You'll probably end up totaling it anyway (hence the unsurprising & intelligently calculated high insurance premiums for young drivers)

The best things come to those... .

agreed i probably wouldnt be able to handle the power of the MKIV damn im just gna have to sit on the insurance company websites and work out what age im going to have to be with whatever amount of years no claims bonus to find a reasonable price.

sorry to be rude but how much was your insurance when you got your MKIV

There's no reason why you cannot be a member on here (paid up) and attend these meets etc.

What a great way to learn more about these cars? - And even before you own one :)

I can't remember, about £1200 initially?

Now I pay £420 fully comp for my BPU TT with 19s and body Mods.

but there worth it right?

by not cheap to run you mean insurances and taxes? or repairing it all time or fuel?..

All of the above.

insurance and fuel if you are young and its your daily drive......

..........IMO you need to tough it out in a ok but low insurance bracket car for a year or two.........NCB is massive when you are young, get to 19/20 with 2/3 years no claims and you should see much better quotes :)

Alright there mate IMO - IN MY OPINION, NCB- NO CLAIMS BONUS

I was 24 when i got my first supra, it was a red n/a and insurance was £700 with 3 years no claims bonus.

I had an accident and wrote the car off. But decided to import my own car which is the one I have now the supra TT facelift model. Im now 28 and with 4 years NCD my insurance is £651 but that is with all modifications declared. (there is quite a few)

Hang in there mate, there worth waiting for. Importantly build up ur NCD

Im sure if you went to a meet local to yourself i would image someone would be more than willing to show u round there car and take you for a spin.

All of the above..!!

In the last year my reliable NA has cost me over a grand and I have only done 1800 miles, including a trip to Le Mans...... This cost was on repairs, MOT etc. Insurance and tax were another £600....:( Fuel on 1800 miles will be about £400.00

Bills inlcude two rear tyres £280.00. Crank Pulley & fitting £300. Plug leads £107. Second hand ball joint & labour £200. MOT £45. Aircon regass £45.00. New Distributor & Labour £90.00.

When I was 17 I wouldn't have a hope of paying these bills as I was on about £100 a week. I hoipe you have bigger pockets than I did.....:D

Your better of going to specialist insurers than concentrate in performance cars and young drivers. Also a quote over the phone usually results in a better premium, such as Adrian Flux.

ok good idea thanks :) there hasnt been a meet near my house yet so it could be a while before i get to see my dreams come true :(

well admiral want £4000 plus :O that aged 21 with 4 years no claims but only £150 excess

Put the car as completely standard on the big compare sites as this will massively increase your number of quotes as opposed to "will not quote". Also try putting in a uk cars details.

Oh and try all the above with a postcode of a known good/better area than your own. (i'm not making any implication that you live in or near a sh*t hole :D just that if you do it will massively effect the premium)
