Stonkin
That would be Paul then? Poor guy not being able to do it in a cool garage, although i imagine its not as hot up there as down south today?
peter richards
needs different colour skiddies
JamesC
Yeah it was Paul. It's not as warm up here, 22c according to my windows sidebar. He was beading some sweat though, if only he wore white skiddies, would be much cooler! And the swirls are gone:

JamesC
Looking nice. How bad was the car before? He wasnt there long? The car was full of buffer trails from the bodyshop that painted it, it wasn't a full detail just paint correction/glaze/wax. He's been here since 8.30 this morning so still been here a fair time. martini
How much did it cost and what did he do to get rid of them? That buffer thing looks circular after all...

You need to use a machine polisher with some compund on to remove the swirls. I'm sure Peter could tell you more if you wanted to know! You'll need someone in your area to do it as he wont travel that far, but here's someone's price list in your area: http://www.mirrorfinishautodetailing.co.uk/mirror_finish_pricing_detailing_pricing.html. peter richards
swirl defect removal is done either with a rotary polisher , or orbital polisher , both spin but the orbital will stop if to much pressure is aplied the other wont . then its a matter of finding a combination of pad and compound to remove the defects , always best to start with the least aggressive combo , and work up if that doesnt do the job, thickness tests are important to find out before you start what each panel has or hasnt got in lacquer depth , as if thin then certain defects can only be improved rather than removed, as if you go to far its off to the bodyshop for a respray . if the defects are quite bad then it will quite often need two or three hits to refine the lacquer to the required finish , as the first more aggresive compound will leave its own slight marring and this will need further work to get the result. hope that helps a bit
Tom
he did that quick, I'm guessing he only went round with a finishing pad and polish but prehaps that's all that was needed Edited June 30, 2009 by Tom (see edit history)
peter richards
wouldnt of taken long tom if it was just buffer trails
