Without a decent source its no worth the hassle, the race stuff is pretty pricey.

You will also need to increase your fuel system by approx 35% to get the same amount of power as you need to use more of it ;)

We have a Decent source here at petrol prices available through out the country

Just was wondering the process , one of the guys over here had his S15 transitioned

Really, where?

To do it properly you need to ensure all your full components are OK with E85 and in my eyes you would require a full remap to take advantage of it.

As already mentioned, to get the same power you need to use more of it, therefore your fuel system will likely require upgrading. You can run more ign advance/boost/power as it has a higher octane rating and aids cooling.

It ticks a lot of boxes but its the availability that is the show stopper for most :(

Over here it available at Maxol garages nationwide, but I did come across during the winter you can run into issues trying to get the car started due to the temp

Talking to my freind (The mechanic) he did highlight your engine internals will be kept squeeky clean running E85 compared to petrol (Carbon deposits etc),

He did mention he knows one of the specialists over here who performs the conversion so asked him to have a chat and see what the process is

Items Required (Come up again and again)

1.Lager injectors (You need more E85 compared to Petrol)

2.Standalone or piggy back ECU for a remap

3.Fuel lines upgraded

4.Higher Flow Fuel Pump

Havent got a definitive List yet

I would like if anybody knows the

•Pros

•Cons

•Gains if any

You will also need to make sure that in colder weather they dont drop the blend at the pump to something like E70, I know this happens in the US.

In an ideal world you would use a FlexFuel sensor and run a fuel/ign correction map based on the fuel being injected, that way you could half fill with petrol or E85 or run 100% E85 and the fueling/ign would be corrected as needed.

This is how the FlexFuel Saabs etc work ;)

Now you bring me onto my next point, I would ideally want the car to be Flexi Fuel because you dont want the loation of Maxol garages to dictate the routes you can only take

Just goin the get the E85 info out of the way them hit the specialist with the Flexi Fuel device and from looking over here are approx 500euro

I run it on my car, but at a 50/50 mix or 75/25 mix. I have to flick a switch or 2 over to go between fuel maps. I get it from Morrisons in Crowborough . They price it at 5/6 pence less than the 95 ron unleaded.

It works But you'll need the right fuel pumps, lines, injectors, fuel rail , tune/tuner , fuel pressure etc etc. So unless you can get it regularly and easily/cheaply don't bother, go and get your car tuned on bp 102 or race fuel.:)

I tested this out at North weald the other week and managed a 132 ET on the 1/4 mile on my stock block so I'm quite happy with it for now.

The result is more power, lower Egt's, is much cleaner and I believe, would pass an emissions test without catalytic converters installed. The other down side is a drop in fuel consumption

You can read then :)

As Wes said, not really worth it in the UK.

you see not as dumb as i appear :D

the only cons i can see with ethanol is you would need a MAP for every mixture as sometimes there not all the same like in the states, they have so many different blends in 1 area. If it was all the same wouldnt be an issue!

edit!!! i see wez has already covered this :D
