I know Matt had something in the works last fall, but the project has gone quiet. Its a simple fact that the Supras have shite for bottom end punch. Is there any pre-made boxes available for the Supra without losing the spare wheel or targa-top mounting?

I NEED BASS! :D

Have you got a pic of your boot?

I made a custom enclosure for my 6sp TT........

where do the areo holders go?

Paul.

Hmm.. mine is in the shop, so I cant take a pic. Perhaps someone has one that they could post up?

Basically fastens over the rear wheel arches to the rear of the boot. Really only leaves room to build one in the stock bass enclosure space.

Anything is possible. Get some pics, or even better dimensions and I'll design you a box.

I've got x2 12" subs and x2 kenwood amps in my boot with almost no loss of space! :D

How much Bass are you after? I've got a 8" sub mounted between the front seats with the box extending back on the middle (transition tunnel) of the rear seats. You can still take three people, still fold down the rear seat and also completely remove the box if you want.
TBH mine is not the tidiest set up (needs properly trimming etc), but it could be done well by the right people.

Not sure how 'correct' a position it is in the audio sense but it sounds ok to me :)

Ive seen a few pics of dual 8" mounted in the stock bass enclosure location with a custom box made up. I am not sure if two 8s would satisfy my needs though. never used such small subs. I tend to listen to a lot of rock and bassy electro rock. Looking for something with a nice solid deep punch. I dont bother with Techno / Dance, so dont need really booming overkill.

Matt.. any status update on that 10" Aero-box?

I made a box for my aerotop. Put a 10" JL sub in there. Sounds great.

The roof fits in fine and doesn't do much to the bass. I fitted it over the spare wheel area as I concluded that it was more important to me than the space saver.

You have to ask yourself how many punctures have you had since you owned the car and is it impossible to limp to a tyre place?

I've had 1 puncture in the 2 years and that was outside kwik fit bizarrely!

The box would probably take 2 10's if you wanted to fork out for a big amp.

I nicked the design from an american website.

Speak to Mandy Gladstone AKA pink lady as she has had a very nice sub install done in her aero soop. It involved moving the front mounts up a bit but it looks and sounds the dogs!!!

Mine sits in the back on its side no problems with the back seat up with the roof on. Take out the roof and it stands upright as in this picture albeit the seat back has to be down! If you require the rear passenger seat as I did once you quick disconnect the sub and sling it on the back seat so you can carry 1 passenger in the rear.

Links not workin Mandy babes!!! As I think I said before keep a card for a 24 hr mobile tyre repairer/replacer in your wallet/phone (theres quite a few about now) and that will give ya the peace of mind you need. AA and RAC might be a bit funny with ya if ya aint got a spare. Also Unless its a blow out most punctures can be repaired so if it can be done roadside you drive home instead of waiting for relay or new tow truck or whatever. Also do you really want your soop coming home on the back of a flashy light truck??

ive made a sub install in my jap spec supra tt targa so that the roof fits in the boot as normal. im running two 12" subs with one amp. i had to remove the spare wheel and all the tools ( jack ect) i fitted it myself as im a carpenter by trade and im thinking of making a d.i.y kit to sell on to others that want to do the same depending on how much interest i get ill post a picture soon of my install and see what you think.

I WANT a system to fit in the boot of my Aero top. I have read thread on Aerotop needs bass and like what I see.

Unlikely - Does anybody have a set up that they are selling, maybe coz of an upgrade.

Possibly - Does anybody fancy building me one? I will pay well.

Not looking for deep window shaking thuds, but clear mid range bass. Already fitted two bass tubes, one behind each seat, but have to take these out when I have passengers.

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!

Cheers

Ray

im doing one at the minute out of fibreglass. as i used to do this before, i'd thought i would go all out. im putting two 12" subs plus a couple of amps, one of which is 30" long! and my roof fits in normally. ive taken the spare out as ive joined the aa :D
but i could have kept it all in and still made it sound the same, but i want it to look good. if anyone needs any help with anything pm me etc.

How did you get the shape to make it?

Never was any good at paper mashie!! Keep us updated with photo's as you progress.

its not as easy as it looks. basically first you would need a framework to go by, so just the basic outline of the enclosure. then you need to get some sweatshirt material (stretchy stuff) and you stretch it over the enclosure and staple it down were necessary to get the shape you want. once you have stapled it all down, you need to harden the material so you have to use a fibreglass resin. you just brush it all over the enclosure and leave it to dry. once it drys properly it will be quite hard (not enough though). then you get some fibreglass mat (like paper mache!) and you put the mat on the enclosure in small strips then brush resin over it. what this does is builds up a few layers so it will be hard enough not to crack.
once you have done all that depending on whether you are going to cover it in material or spray it, you finish it off with some body filler (if you are spraying it) or just cover it with whatever you like.

this is just a basic guideline, not too much in detail but you can get the basic idea of what is involved.
im going to spray mine the same colour as the car, so what you seen in the pictures is the enclosure covered in body filler.

Wouldn't mind seeing a photo of the finished item, when it's done. Sure others would be interested too.

Good luck!

Defo on the pics. Nice idea using fibreglass as its lighter and prob stronger than MDF or similar. Will look like a stock part too when its sprayed in same colour as your car.
