Rough Estimate...

A lot. probably about £300 from Mr T.

The water pump sits behind the timing belt, so its basically the same workscope as changing the timing belt. I'd say it was worth doing both jobs if you are at all close to a timing belt change.

Are you sure it’s the gasket that is leaking and not the water pump itself?

Well, it took me ages to do it :) so it would probs cost mostly labour unfortunately. I needed to remove the radiator (to have work room) all of the engine cover and pulleys etc... aux belt. belt tensioner to be able to get at a few of the water pump bolts...

Make sure who ever does it knows what they are doing though!

Cliff, give Derek a ring at Tech One in Sidcup on 020 8302 0600.

Tell him I put you on to him, ask for a price to replace the water pump on your NA.

get one price with a new pump from toyota, and another just for fitting.

I would probably get onto Keron or Jezzybabes and get a low mileage second hand one from them.
