lowering question

Looking to buy some lowering springs for my n/a but notice the tt supra's go up to 40mm drop and the n/a's only to 35mm. Any reason for this, would of thought the n/a's were lighter? and secoandly is there any problem fitting tt springs to an n/a as i wanna go low! would of thought the olny difference is spring rate?

cheers

You need to get correctly matched spring rates to the car, as NA's and TT's have different front and rear weights the spring rates need to be different. Fitting the wrong springs will seriously upset the handling of the car. The car will also need a full geometry allignment after making any change to the springs or wheels.

Do not fit TT springs to an NA, the car will sit higher as the TT lump is heavier. My NA currently has a Tein setup from a TT and looks like a monster truck :D

cheers homer, one question tho i did think the tt would be heavier so why they allways go lower than the n/a's? is it cus the spring rate is a lot higher so the springs dont compress as much?

I don't know which springs you are looking at, all the rates and ride heights are different between the different suspension kits available. Just choose a good setup for your car which is suited to what you wish to use it for. BTW, what are you using your car for (daily driver, show car, drag, track days, etc)?

TT and NA ride heights at stock are not the same anyway, so the drop you're talking about isn't relative in terms of final ride height.

It's a very bad idea to just lower the car because of the look, have a word with Chris Wilson on here, I am sure he can advise a sensible suspension setup for you ;)

What size wheels do you have fitted?

i have 18 x 9 all round, was planning on lowering it then taking it to my local garrage who said they can adjust the geometry to suit. yer i will drop him a pm.

cheers for the advise homer

The wheel sizes are not at all ideal, do you know the offsets? I very much doubt your local place will be able to setup a specific geo for your car, you must (seriously) go to an independant specialist for geometry when moving away from stock setup.

Additionally, please use email when contacting Chris rather than PM, there is an option for that when viewing his profile. Chris is a suspension and geometry specialist.
