I don't know what OEM filters sell for these days, but this must be close enough to that for it not to be worth the risk of the K&N one providing poor filtration. I'm not being an @rse, it's a genuine question. With air filters, you can easily sacrifice filtration for free-breathing. I like my cylinders without bits of gravel in them, so I stick to the stock air filter. A similar trade-off probably applies to oil filters: free-flow vs effectiveness of filtration.
