rear wheels 'jumping'

whenever i seem to go over a rough patch of road, such as a strip of new tarmac which has settled slightly lower than the existing road, the rear end feels as if it jumps to the left. i read that when the bushes are worn it allows more movement in the suspension so im guessing these may be the problem? (although i havnt checked yet) anyone have any different ideas what the problem may be?

Sounds like a shocker to me, i had the same problem. If i went over a cats eye on the motorway the whole back end jumped about 4inches:taped:

This problems was acompanied by a small knocking noise over bumps.

Be prepared to change your upper rear suspension arms as well though as these often go at about the same time as the shocks, and these are pretty pricey if you buy new. These also cause wierd handling problems if worn.
