Fuel pump...where do these go?

Fitting fuel pump but wondering where these two pieces go?

I think they hold the filter sock onto the bottom of the pump.

I know they are something to do witht he filter but where do they go? Inside where the filter connects to the pump to act as a type of washer of on the outside?

Does the small silver one go inside the black one?

Both of them are locking washers so i assume you will need to use only one of them depending which one is the tighter fit.

They are both a very tight fit...they both came with the fuel pump so you must have to use both of them surely? But how exactly do they fit on?

These are linked to the big that I broke on my old pump.

IIRC you need to push the filter sock bit onto the white nub on the bottom of the pump then these slide over, large one, then small one, to lock the filter sock bit into place.

Does this look right or should they be thye other way around i.e. silver bit inside black bit?

Just don't want the silver bit coming off in the fuel tank

looks right but have fitted a few pumps now and have only had the silver locking washer supplied, never come across two.

Just fitted it there but I thought it made more sense if the silver bit was inside so that's what I went with...feels solid enough anyway
