Plating/Coating Wheel Nuts

I'm unhappy with the way my wheel nuts have turned out after storage this winter. I've looked into buying new ones, but they seem to be a special order made for Do-luck (who aren't sure if you can buy them separately), so to keep things a little simpler, I was wondering whether anyone knew of a way of changing the colour of the existing nuts. Please remember that a hex fitting fits inside the nut, so painting wouldn't work, nor would polishing as it would be very difficult to get into the hex part IMO. It's obviously the bottom nut:

Get them chromed, i can get that done up here in brum or what about the chromers you found near you ?

I thought about that but it's getting them polished first that I would imagine would be difficult. Mainly where the hex part goes in on the top.

Get them cleaned up then chromed as Dnk says. You should be able to get them to polish the nickel before chrome plating to give a shine to the chrome without the need to polish first.

Any news on that company you found Kev, pm if you prefer.

Thanks for the info Colin. I'll pop them across to them, and see what they say. The company have been busy and there were lots of people before me in the queue, however when I spoke to them last week, the parts were (still after 3 weeks ) at the welders. I appreciate it's a long time, but I'd rather wait and not get it done again.

Send me some pics when you do finally get the bits back :)

I need to get some suspension components Kephos coated, if you aren't in a rush i should have the flavour of the year options next week. Most metal platers and finishers can do nickel, just Yellow Page for somewhere local. Kephos is quite specialised.

Well I'm not in any massive rush as I can put the OEM wheels back on, but I'd like the other wheels on the car before Japfest (May 16th).

Looks like I might have this sorted. I've dropped them off at a local company, where they're going to remove the original coating and apply something a little better suited. I should get them back just after Easter. I'll make sure I update this thread incase anyone is interested :)
