Hi,

Now i have purchased the new seal kit from toyota so that i can refurb my brakes.

In this kit i got some of these new rubber things (picture 1), so i thought i would take the old ones out so i can put these new ones in, picture 2 shows you where the new ones are located and picture 3 shows you them extended, the problem is that i tried taking the old ones out but only the rubber bit came out (which were glued to the metal bit) so i think the metal thing has stayed in and now the new ones dont fit.. :( ! There's no mention of changing these bits in the 'Refurbing brake caliper' thread so has anyone else changed these bits when refurbing their calipers and can help me please?

Cheers

hi mate they are a pain to get out,i used a small screwdriver on mine.i only changed the ones that needed doing.to put new ones on i used a socket that fits over it and gentle hit it with a hammer.hope this helps.

Hi tony,

I was going to pm you actually saying they arrived today, so thanks for the quick delivery!

I wasnt sure if i was supposed to change these but thought i may aswell change all of them now since i have the new ones anyway! Ok so the metal things got stuck in when you did it too? I have tried pulling them out with pliers but no luck! I will try with a screw-driver then! Cheers

i only had to change two mate so wasnt to bad.a lot easier if you got a vice to hold slidder why you try to get it old one out.be careful when putting new ones invery easy to tear.take your time and you should be fine.

What determines whether they need to be changed or not? Ok well i have tried with a screw driver but still no luck! I could try cutting them with a saw or something? Cheers
