What does anybody think?

Is there a business opportunity in transporting vehicles around the country, i've got a trailer with long low ramps and winch.

I could tow with a van or 4x4 and even a motorhome is long enough journey requiring stop over (Europe).

Insurance could be arranged as i've already got a business fleet policy which includes my single soop (fully comp, any driver).

Sounds good but would people pay?

There is certainly a market for it, but the professional guys that do this full time are not wealthy ones :D It's a very competitive market.

However, if it was a bit of part time work for a few specialist jobs you could certainly make a bit of extra cash on the side.

I had several offers from European buyers for my single and all but one wanted it delivered to a local port, I would have been happy to pay someone else for the hassle, maybe hitting all the Jap clubs as a trader offering this service would bring in some nice leads, my car ended up with a buyer from Finland and I would not have wanted to drive it there !

According to a mate who does it for a living with a proper recovery truck, if you do it for hire and reward youll need a tachograph fitted to the tow vehicle. I looked into doing this and bought a Landcruiser to do it with but then he told me about the tacho requirement, doh !!

I guess you know but just incase, dont forget about the towing capacities of the towing vehicle, 4x4's vary by quite a bit on what they can legally tow hence i bought the cruiser as thats got a train weight of 6500 kgs so no problems with the heaviest cars even on a tri axle trailer

All the best

I think there is money to be made from this. If you advertised as being able to carry a lowered / modified cars then you have to be on to a winner. As above you may not make a million from it but as a cash in had job it's got £££ written all over it I say.
